Analyst, Consumer & Business Insight

America's Test Kitchen is seeking a research analyst who loves working with data, is passionate about consumer insight, understands how data and insight inform business strategy, excels in project management, and exhibits strong presentation skills.  Flexibility and a desire to grow and learn are paramount for success in this department supporting research and analytics across the organization. In this role, you will:

  • Consult and collaborate with internal stakeholders (primarily editorial and marketing teams) on ad hoc research needs 

    • Determine most appropriate research methodologies based on client goals, budgets, and time constraints. 

    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research projects. Primarily involves programming and fielding online surveys. Also includes online discussion boards, in-house focus groups, etc.

    • Coordinate with market research or sampling vendors as needed

    • Analyze research results; transform respondent feedback into meaningful segments for analysis (inspecting, cleaning, transforming with the goal of discovering useful information). Run simple statistical analysis to derive insights and aid in reporting processes

    • Create articulate and useful reports and presentations for internal clients.

  • Maintain and trend recurring surveys (e.g., NPS and annual surveys). Relay actionable recommendations to stakeholders based on analysis.

  • Coordinate, track, and interpret Nielsen TV ratings data, primarily in support of sponsorship team. Investigate sources of change and act as point of contact around ratings.

  • Investigate sources of marketplace and competitive data. 

  • Make recommendations for streamlining data collection process and best practices, and investigate technology, training, and vendor solutions to support and/or fill skill gaps.

  • Present research results in a manner that is clear, compelling, and accurate.  

  • Help support a “customer first” culture of deep consumer understanding.



  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to understand, integrate and synthesize a wide array of data to form insightful observations and clear, actionable business implications

  • Strong business acumen, including an understanding of brand strategy, advertising and consumer behavior

  • High detail orientation, ability to dig deep into data, and creative reporting skills

  • Strong business writing skills

  • Excellent inter-personal skills, strong verbal skills, and ability to easily pivot as priorities change

  • Eagerness to gain research experience and develop skills in brand research and product development

  • Flexibility during peak periods.



  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a business-related or social sciences field (psychology, economics, statistics, marketing, advertising, etc.)

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of full-time work experience in primary market research; experience with media, book, and/or magazine products a plus

  • Experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative research data

  • Experience with or understanding of Public TV industry and Nielsen ratings (preferred)

  • Strong PowerPoint skills; proficiency with advanced Excel features/tools including pivot tables

  • Strong academic background (GPA required)
