Associate Producer

Department: TV & Video Production
Location: Boston, MA

America's Test Kitchen is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and creative Associate Producer to support production and content creation for our Emmy-nominated television shows and developing podcast program. This position reports to the Executive Producer and collaborates with a variety of other departments across the company. The Associate Producer will support production logistics, execute research and fact-checking, participate in development of new television specials, edit podcast episodes in ProTools, and develop script writing skills. This is a true right brain/left brain position for an early career producer with the organizational skills to execute on creative ideas. 

Responsibilites of the role broken out by content type:


  • Perform Associate Producer-level production duties on ATK, CCTV, television specials, and other designated projects.
  • Execute research.
  • Coordinate shoot logistics, including parking arrangements and security measures.
  • Work with Production Manager to coordinate catering/craft/expense reports.
  • Organize post shoot expenses and prepare receipt files for Production Manager.
  • Prepare production docs as designated by Producer (ie. call sheets, shoot schedules, script binders, etc).
  • Manage talent booking with direction from Producer.
  • Create the ATK & CCTV Station Toolkits.
  • Management of mailings and communication to programmers, station events.
  • Participate in development of new television specials, as designated by Executive Producer.
  • Brainstorm concepts and develop script writing skills.
  • Prop kitchen for shoots.
  • Coordinate food with kitchen as designated by Executive Producer and Producer.
  • Manage a team of 2-3 freelance Production Assistants during television shoots.
  • Develop script supervision skills for television production.
  • Prepare music cue sheets for submission to distributor APT.


  • Coordinate production logistics for Proof Podcast - scheduling studio time, booking host & reporter records, keeping meticulous, up-to-date schedule, managing script and content mix delivery deadlines.
  • Participate in development of new podcast series, as designated by Executive Producer.
  • Maintain master podcast lineup with accurate segments and record dates, tracking to delivery deadlines.
  • Execute research and fact-checking for podcast stories.
  • File management - maintain an organized file for each podcast story, including reporter transcripts, script drafts, interviewee/source contacts, etc.
  • Coordinate asset creation and delivery of social short videos for each episode with the Assistant Editor.
  • Track music and other media clearances with Post Production Supervisor.
  • Coordinate & schedule reporting related travel, with direction from Executive Producer.
  • Responsible for delivering bonus content for each episode to the web team - obtaining and processing photos, writing headlines and captions, tracking photo clearances and credits, delivering scripts and rough cuts to web editor for companion web articles.
  • Responsible for uploading episode files and descriptions to distribution platform ART19.
  • Managing ad campaigns within ART19 and delivering weekly impression reports to Executive Producer and sponsorship team.
  • Brainstorm episode topics and develop script writing skills.
  • Participate in group script edits with Executive Producer, Host, Producer, and reporters.
  • Rough cut episodes in ProTools. (Training will be provided if the right candidate doesn’t have experience in audio editing in a DAW).


  • Schedule meetings per Producer and Executive Producer.
  • Book travel/logistics/parking as designated by Production Manager.
  • Support talent styling and wardrobe upkeep.
  • Support scheduling of all shapes and sizes.
  • Prepare and breakdown meetings.
  • Manage internship program with Producer.
  • As needed, run shoot-related errands (ie. prop shopping, processing wardrobe returns, gear pickups, etc.)
  • Bring in inspiration.
  • Build and share knowledge base of competitors in our space and new styles we can potentially integrate.
  • Drive creative culture at ATK by looking for opportunities to cross-pollinate, collaborate and establish an inviting vibe from TV & Podcast department to the company at large.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2-3 years production experience, preferably in TV, radio, podcasts, video or audio production (internship and college radio experience considered)
